Mildred V. Spiller, Esq. serves as Of Counsel to Parles Rekem, LLP.
Her practice concentrates on representing individuals with disabilities and their families. She has experience with guardianship, handling special education matters and anti- bullying cases.
In addition to representing individuals with disabilities and their families, she has a broad-based background in civil litigation, representing individuals in employment discrimination, civil rights and wrongful discharge matters. Ms. Spiller also has extensive family law experience. She, however, started her career clerking for the Honorable David S. Baime, and then going on to work in the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Attorney General’s office, handling a wide variety of matters. As part of her supervisory responsibilities, she mentored young attorneys and supervised their work. She also lectured law enforcement professionals on various criminal law topics including Department of Corrections officers. She authored several sections of the Criminal Law Digest. Mildred also worked for the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office writing appellate briefs and supervising other attorneys’ work.
Mildred has argued many legal issues and appeared many times in the Supreme Court of New Jersey, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division and Law Division, in the Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey and in the Federal Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Mildred also had the honor and privilege of appearing in the United States Supreme Court. Mildred has also represented many clients in administrative matters. She has successfully settled cases through negotiation and or the mediation process.
Mildred earned her B.A. with honors from Seton Hall University in 1979 and her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1982. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey since 1982. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, in the the Federal Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and in the United States Supreme Court.
Mildred has also been an active member in her community in Warren Township where she served on her local Board of Education for close to 10 years, 3 terms as President and 3 terms as Vice-President. She also volunteered her time in the local public schools for many years in various capacities to enhance the experiences of all the children. Additionally, Mildred volunteered for 15 years teaching CCD at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren, New Jersey as well as acting in the capacity of Teacher/Coordinator of the Confirmation Program for high school students.
